A Free GPS Tracker for Android Mobiles and Tablets is presented in this post. This Android App basically allows you to track physical location of any given Android Mobile or Tablet Phone with Android Location Services including Network, GPS, etc. You can view the Latitude and Longitude Information on the main screen of the software and optionally enable tracking at configured interval. Apart from displaying the Latitude and Longitude of any given location, this GPS Tracker can also fetch the actual address of the the location co-ordinates using Google Services. You can also configure the GPS Tracker to send and automated SMS at pre-configured mobile number.

The screenshot given above displays various configurable options available with the GPS Tracker. First of all the Location Update Interval is basically a time interval at which you wish to get the Latitude and Longitude Information. Another configurable option is the Location Update Distance which basically governs the change in distance after which the GPS Tracker must get the current Latitude and Longitude information fro either GPS Satellites or using Internet / Cellular Networks.

As displayed in the above screenshot, you can enable or disable the Location Tracking using the Menu Option titled Location Tracking. The Tracked Location Information is stored in External Storage of Android in the form of text files which can be read using any text editor. The Data Files Stored in the External Folder are named so that for any given day, one separate file will be stored for every hour. So for example, if you enable the GPS Tracking for complete one day with 24 hours, you will get 24 different files containing location information stored along with time, address and other attributes.

When Location Tracking is Enabled, you can optionally enable Automatic SMS Tracking of the Android Tablet / Phone. Each SMS Sent out from the Android GPS Tracker is numbered and the counter is reset with each change in date. The SMS Message sent out by the GPS Tracker contains Physical Address of the Location identified with GPS or Network Location Services and a Google Map link with which you can view the location on Google Maps easily.

An Icon in the Android Status Bar is displayed by default when Location Tracking is Enabled. You can remove the Notification Icon using the Notification Icon for Tracking menu option. Removing this icon will also hide SMS notifications displayed each time a SMS Message is sent out. When the option to display the Notification Icon is checked, the Location Tracking of this Android GPS Tracker is run with highest possible priority.

Before using this GPS Tracker Android App, please do make sure that have fully understood all the features of this Android GPS Tracker. You must also understand the the Latitude and Longitude Information derived from GPS Satellites, Cellular Network or Internet as controlled using Location Services may not be always 100% accurate. For Location Tracking, you must make sure that your extrnal storage of your Android Phone or Tablet has enough free space available. Lookup of Address requires an Active Internet Connection and in case Internet is not available at the time of Location Tracking, only Latitude and Longitude co-ordinates will be stored or sent out by SMS as configured. You can stop Location Tracking and Automatic SMS Sent by sending Stop: as SMS to the Android Phone / Tablet with a valid SIM Card.
